Pere Portabella
ere Portabella i Ràfols (born 11 November 1929 in Barcelona, Catalonia) is a Catalan experimental filmmaker, artist and politician. He first achieved notoriety as the producer of Luis Buñuel’s Viridiana; his connection with the controversial film caused him trouble with the Francoist government, which eventually lead to his passport being taken away. Portabella has completed 10 features to date, the most recent being 2007’s Die Stille vor Bach. He frequently collaborates with composer Carles Santos.
