This year also marked the launch of the People's Choice, which honored the poetic and whimsical film A Universal Language by Winnipeg filmmaker Matthew Rankin.
A musical tribute to the great filmmaker Chantal Akerman took place with the screening of American Stories, accompanied on the cello by Sonia Wieder-Atherton.
Special mention for the Caméra d’Or went to the Taiwanese film Mongrel by Chiang Wei Liang, and the FIPRESCI prize was awarded to the Japanese film Desert of Namibia by Yoko Yamanaka.
The second edition of the Fortnight Extended took place in over 30 cinemas in France, with screenings of the 2024 selection also held internationally in Brazil, the United States, and Japan!
