Mitsuo Yanagimachi
Born in Ibaraki, Japan, in 1945, Mitsuo Yanagimachi dreamed of making films while in law school. In 1970, he became an assistant director and in 1974, created his own production company. His first film, God Speed You! Black Emperor, was completed in 1976 and was a critical success. His film Fire Festival was shown at Cannes in 1986. In 1995, he made a documentary in Taiwan. His new film marks his return to cinema after a ten year interruption.
