Levan Zakareichvili was born in Tbilisi, Georgia, in 1953, and studied geology at the University of Tbilisi. In 1985, he graduated from the Screenwriting and Directing College in Moscow. His first feature film They was shown in the Directors’ Fortnight in 1992.
