Jean Paul Civeyrac was born in Firminy (Loire) in 1964. After studying philosophy at the University of Lyon, where he wrote a thesis on film opera, he entered the Fémis. From 1999 to 2010, he ran (with Claire Simon) the school’s department of directing.
