HPG
Hervé Pierre Gustave was born in 1966. In 1984, he failed his exams to become an electromechanical engineer, but he got excellent grades in gymnastics. He opted for a physical profession. Aware of his endurance, he passed an audition for an erotic theater. It remained the only irrefutable casting of his life. In 1990, he made his firm porno movie, and quickly became one of the most prolific and unusual actors on the international porn scene, appearing tirelessly in movie after movie. In 1995, he began to produce and direct shorts and shuttled between auteur cinema and comedies. Some major professionals were appreciative of his work, others dismayed. But HPG pulled off the difficult feat of being recognized both as part of the porno film circuit and the sphere of traditional cinema. The Cinémathèque Française devoted two evenings to his work. In October 2005, Oliver Py cast HPG and his girlfriend, the actress-model LZA, for a controversial appearance in his staging of the opera Tannhäuser, at the Grand Théâtre in Geneva. On ne devrait pas exister is his first feature as director.
