Gyula Maar
He was born in Budapest. He studied literature and history. He was a reader for a publishing house and entered the high school of theater and cinema in Budapest. He graduated in direction and worked as a film critic. He directed short films. In 1970, seven screenpalys he wrote were published. In 1973, he directed his first feature film which won the Grand Prize at the Manheim festival. His second film Où êtes-vous, Madame Déry? was awarded in Cannes.
