Bahia came to cinema by way of the documentary. After working as an assistant director for Jean-Pierre Thorn and Claire Simon, she directed « Impressions de voyage » and « Mères Amère », both prize winners in numerous festivals. She maintained her parrallel career as an assistant to directors like Merzak Allouache and Christophe Ruggia while continuing to direct.
