Alan Clarke

Born in Merseyside, after bad studies, he worked in a insurance company and did his military service in the Royal artillery. He went to Canada in 1956 to study direction for radio and TV at the Toronto’s Ryerson Institute of Technology. He was a disc-jockey and an actor. Back to Great Britain in 1961, he was an assistant at the Associated Rediffusion ( ITV channel ). He directed his first drama in 1967. His film Scum was censored by the BBC; it could be released after he edited a new version. His worked is famous on TV, like adaptations of Beloved Enemy and Psy Warriors by David Leland as well as Made in Britain which won the Italia Prize.
