Europe’s largest lithium mine is about to start operating in Trás-os-Montes, much to the dismay of the local inhabitants. Frederico Lopo induces an earthy sensuality and contrasts two geologies: that of mining prospection and machines, and that of roots and people.

Frederico Lobo

Born in Porto in 1981, Frederico Lobo has been working in the film making as a director and cinematographer since 2004. In 2006 he attended Ateliers Varan, where he made his first short film Entre tempos. In 2017 he completed a master’s degree in Cinematography at ESCAC in Barcelona. In 2020 he co-founded the film cooperative Rua Escura.
