In the empty secenery of the « Murders » series (painted in 1968) where the space is moreover enlarged by mirrors riddled with bulletholes, Monory painted himself as a victim and a murderer. This duality finds itself on the screen where the painter plays the two parts : himself and his double !
Docmentary, reporting, fiction ? In any case, thriller… but whose actions directly proceed from the work and personality of Jacques Monory.

Philippe Gaucherand

Specialist of art film, he won in 1980 the Grand Prize for script at Beaubourg, and at the Cannes Film Festival as well as a César nomination for his first film, Panoplie (a fictional documentary about the painter Jacques Monory). After he made reports and institutional films, he founded his own production company and directed two movies for Guimet Museum. For 6 years, he shot the building of La Cité de la Musique. He directed reports for a TV magazine.
