He was born in England. He studied at the London Film School. He made the first feature film about London’s gayworld: Nighthawks. He made a documentary on American painter, Edward Hopper, and a feature-length reflection on Nighthawks, strip Jack Naked. He then made three films set in and around East London, Empire State, Fighters and Real Money, the last again improvised with non-professional actors. He now runs a studio in Mile End, with an acting workshop, and is currently preparing several feature and documentary projects to be made in Russia and Ukraine, following a 2-year NESTA Fellowship which allowed him to spend time working in both countries.
